Allusive Poem draft

"I'm Just A Girl..."

I'm just a girl...
Who will persevere to make her family proud.
Struggling to fully understand who she is.

I'm just a girl...
Who will never think highly of herself
For the imperfections is what makes her different

I'm just a girl...
Who will stand with the one she loves.
Fight for him whole heartedly.

I'm just a girl...
Who will make decisions for the sake of others
For it will bring humble emotions to her heart.

    Angry Letter: draft

    Dear Chili's,
My family and I enjoy the food that is served at the restaurant. I like the look and feel of when you step into the room. I can tell that it's a trustworthy restaurant to be in, sanitation wise.
But almost every time we go to your restaurant, we encounter some kind of problem. We have bad experiences with the staff. There was one time where we was seated and it took almost half an hour to 45 minutes to get our food out. We knew for a fact that we ordered before any of the people around us, who came after us. We asked to talk to a manager and when she came out, her excuse was that the staff changes all the time. I believe that wasn't a good enough reason to why our food took long to come. Let me state that when we did get the food to our table, it was cold and it didn't live up to what we expected from a restaurant like chili's.

Another time we went to your restaurant in waikele, our waiter came to our table and told us that we couldn't order anything fried because the fryer wasn't working. The people around us wasn't so happy about it either. We was still able to eat but I believe that your restaurant should make sure their main equipments are working properly. In this case, especially if many of the items on the menu are required to be fried.

My family and I stopped going to chili's for years because of the bad experiences we had faced in the past. Earlier this year we had decided to try eating there again. Our waiter was very nice and she wasn't hesitant to play around with my little brothers. But, it took a while to get our food out and it was cold. This added another bad experience at chili's.

Once again, We enjoy the food served at chili's but it ruins it all if it's cold plus waiting a long time to actually get it. I understand it could be busy that night but this has happened more than just one time. In fact it happened almost every time we went to your restaurant. One suggestion I would give to you is to have more expectations when hiring the staff. A good staff will bring forth a good restaurant.

    Sincerely,

    Tatiana Guzman

    Eating Disorders Essay

Schools should require a class for self image. There are doctors which people with eating disorders could go to; but it's a choice. If schools were to require students to take a class for self image, they are being forced to somehow accept and love the way they are inside and out. It would make them feel better about themselves.
Schools should require students to take a self image class because a big percentage of the people that suffer from an eating disorder are adolescents. It is proven from the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders that 95% of those who have eating disorders are between the ages of 12 and 25. If these self image classes were present in a student's daily school day, they would be exposed to concepts that teach them the right way to keep a good diet.
The Board of Education could say that adding this class would take away learning time from core classes such as english, math, or science, and the students won't be able to take in all the information. But, having a disorder can cause the brain to become less functional. When the body doesn't have enough nourishment, proteins, and vitamins, it will start to act unusual. It will start to use parts of itself to fulfill it's needs, including taking bits of the brain, causing it to act differently. Therefore if the student suffers from an eating disorder, they can be very distracted and won't be able to function in school at all.
Students may think that taking a self image class is pointless because they are happy with the way they are. Having confidence is great because that is what this class would be focusing on. It would be a good experience for the students without eating disorders because they could have a different perspective on their friends with the problem. Therefore, this would be a class to get students to build each other's confidence levels up and just be a friend to someone. A simple gesture of kindness could save someone's life.

    college essay: draft

Imagine hearing someone knocking on your door. You open it and it's a friend of your's with their child. They ask you to care for them for a whole entire year! What do you do? Well, I am the right person to come to. There are certain individuals that made an impact on my life in a positive way. The morals and values that they taught me is what makes me who I am today. Therefore, that is what I would impart in this child.
My mom is a strong, independent woman. She is not a push over and she knows how to stand her ground. She speaks what is on her mind and doesn't let anyone's opinion affect her. She also had to grow up faster than expected because she had a duty to watch her little sister while my grandma went to work every day. My mom taught me how to stay strong even when times get tough. I learned to prove people wrong when they say I will never be able to do something. With the child, I would teach them how to always strive for what they believe in; giving no one the power to stop them.
My dad is one of the most humble people I know. He really has a heart for others and is sensitive to their feelings. It isn't a surprise when I hear him on the phone, giving someone advice. This trait about my dad reminds me of myself. I'm always there for my friends when they are in need. I don't judge a person when they do something wrong, but I try to guide them to the positive side of life. I would teach the kid to never let his/her pride get the best of them. I would want them to grow up as someone who is known for caring for others before themselves.
My grandma is hardworking, loving, and the kind of woman that wouldn't let you leave the house with an empty stomach. She is hardworking because as long as she can walk, she will choose to go to work. She is loving because she has a very giving heart. For someone who doesn't have much, she gives all that she can. Every time I go over to her house the first thing she says is "did you eat yet?". She always makes sure my stomach is filled before I leave. I would make sure the child has a good appetite so he/she is healthy. I wouldn't want the child to starve. I would try my best to give them as much as I can as a "mother figure".
Basically I believe that a child could learn by experience and influence of others, just how I was brought up to be. I would be a responsible role model for that child and I would be that positive impact on their life. In addition to my part in giving and caring for them, they would make an impact on myself as well. It would keep me in check on how I am as a person and a care giver.

    College topics/links

Here are a few colleges that I am interested in.

    Oregon State University - http://oregonstate.edu/
    Seattle University - http://www.seattleu.edu/default.aspx
    UH manoa - http://www.uhm.hawaii.edu/
    UCLA - http://www.ucla.edu/

I couldn't find any of the essay questions so I choose to use one of the questions Mrs.s put on the paper.
    - A small child has been left in your care for a year and it is your responsibility to teach the child about life. What values do you attempt to instill in this person? what kinds of experiences do you give her or him?
